Villa Reale

In Marlia we find Villa Reale, occupied first by the dukes of Tuscia in the Lombard period and then by the Avvocati, Buonvisi and Orsetti families. Thanks to the works ordered by Elisa Baciocchi, Villa Reale took a more modern appearance (19th century). Elisa, who chose this villa (planned by Bienaimé) as her country house, introduced a lot of changes.

The waterworks, the lemon garden, the hall of the fountain and the "greenery theatre" in the open, where also Niccolò Paganini, among others, performed, remained unchanged. On the contrary the building was transformed: new rooms were built and the garden was doubled. After it was owned by many different families, the villa was sold in 1918 by the son of the Prince Charles of Savoy.
