Aqueduct by Lorenzo Nottolini

Speaking about the historical artistical heritage that visitors can find in Lucca area, it's impossible to forget the aqueduct built by Lorenzo Nottolini.

The works, begun in 1823, were interrupted at various times and ended in 1851. The water, which came from the sources on Monte Pisano, reached the town centre, flowing over the little temples of Guamo and S. Concordio by means of a duct extending on a row of more than 400 brick arches, which is 3,250 meters long, and going across the gallery under the bulwark of S. Colombano.
